Artist's Information
Judy McLaren has spent the last thirty years exploring figurative work and in more recent years this adventure has extended to include abstraction and sculpture. Her earlier training included graduating from the Ontario College of Art in 1979 and then working as staff artist at the Royal Ontario Museum. She states of her process, “The images I create are interpreted through the sensual qualities of the medium -the rapid brush strokes or the mark of a clay tool are something I never try to hide” Painting primarily with oil on canvas Judy strives to combine light, form, colour and design to take the viewer, “…beyond the moment to a higher truth.”
Judy has been in numerous shows; both group and solo, and was given the honour of first prize in 2003. She has also been featured in various publications both as subject matter and as an illustrator.
