Artist's Information

Ray was born in Courtney, British Columbia and moved to North Vancouver in 1988 to attend the Commercial Art Programme at Capilano College. Upon graduation he worked as a freelance illustrator for a brief period before changing his focus to fine art. In the spring of 2000 he received his signature status with the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Working primarily in oils, he enjoys painting the rugged beauty of our westcoast landscape, local and European street scenes, cityscapes and marine subjects. Light, texture, colour and contrast play important roles in the images he creates.

Ray and his wife,Heidi, travel frequently and he finds travel an important stimulus for growth and inspiration in his work, through visiting art galleries, museums and experiencing other cultures.
