Artist's Information
Pieter Molenaar is a westcoast artist transplanted from the Netherlands in 1979. He was born in Amsterdam in 1946 and attended Art school in Amsterdam where he had the opportunity of winning many awards. After coming to Canada Pieter has continued to paint and show his work throughout the country.
The strength of expression oil painting allows is utilized by Pieter to the extreme in the dramatic skies of his commanding scapes. Pieter admires the Old Dutch Masters and this is reflected in the style of his work. Blending realism and impressionism Pieter’s dramatic colours and contours enhance scenes from the westcoast of Canada, the Netherlands and other international sites. He creates a unique impression of land, city and seascapes.
